Newborn Aardvark Born At Zoo

The little cub – named Winsol because he was born on the winter solstice – is now being cared for by staff at the zoo.
Mum Ali, 13, gave birth to her baby boy weighing just three pounds at the end of last year.
The animal care team are now closely supervising the pair during the day to ensure that Ali doesn’t accidentally roll over or step on the infant.
Circus monkey cries seeing a friend after a year of separation The circus monkey is a part of the seasonal show which comes to town every year. The movie shows an emotional reaction of the animal seeing his friend Miro. They haven't seen each other for almost a year. During the monkey's stay in town Miro who is a volunteer at the facility would bring him some treats like bananas and raisins. The have become really good friends. The owner of the monkey is a great circus artist who has a show of dogs and monkeys. He does take a very good care of the animals. The monkey-boy is 14 years old.- Premature Baby Hippo Takes First Steps – Cincinnati Zoo Encouraging news from hippo headquarters this morning. Fiona was active during the night and consumed a good amount of formula on her own! This video, taken by her animal care staff during the overnight shift, shows Fiona's first steps! - Max Canada Lynx Max, the animal ambassador is topping the scale at 40.5 pounds! This is the most he has ever weighed. His body is gearing up for winter by adding mass and fur. At the end of the video he quickly leaped up to jump on me and lucky I'm pretty fast too! He's not totally domestic or wild. BTW, Max is not declawed. He was born May 2011 at a zoo and cannot be released into the wild. His pancreas doesn't function properly and therefore he needs enzymes on his meat daily.
- Polar Bears Play in Snow at the San Diego Zoo Polar Bear Plunge at the San Diego Zoo was transformed into a winter wonderland early this morning, as nearly 26 tons of glistening white snow blanketed the polar bear exhibit. The three bears—Kalluk, Tatqiq and Chinook—showed their excitement by frolicking in the snow. They rolled around in the fresh powder and wrestled with each other all morning long. Animal care staff also scattered yams, carrots, melons and beef femur bones throughout the exhibit as added enrichment, and watched as the bears pounced and dug for their prizes. This surprise snowy enrichment was made possible by donors who contributed to the animal care wish list on the San Diego Zoo website, sandiegozoo.org. Enrichment is very important for the bears, as it stimulates them, keeps them active and promotes natural behaviors. “This was a special day for the polar bears, and I could tell they really loved it,” said Susan Purtell, senior keeper, San Diego Zoo. “It was great seeing them roll around in the snow, showcasing their natural behaviors.”
