When they are afraid, Bahamian pygmy boas (Tropidophis canus) inject blood into their brain until their eyes turn red and their mouth bleeds. It is only known that they do so when they are threatened, but it has not yet been demonstrated what real effect cephalic self-bleeding has on their potential predators.
