Kismet Diner: A short film about following your heart
(0) | 01/11/2014 | Part of the Cornetto Cupidity short film collection, “Kismet Diner” is a story about a waitress named Laura who sings to the customers she serves. Cornetto, a popular ice cream brand in the UK, made this film to celebrate the teenage experience of love.
An Ode To Love Brown Bag Films' latest short film, 'An Ode To Love', written and directed by Matthew Darragh and produced by Suzie Belton & Danielle Considine with music by Stefan French, tells the story of a man on a desert island who falls in love with a stick.... An Ode To Love was made with the generous support of Filmbase and RTE, who together with IMRO also gave us the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the RTE Concert Orchestra for the films score. An Ode To Love made its premiere at the 2014 Foyle Film Festival where it received the award for Best Irish Animation and it has since been screened in festivals around the world! Garnering an IFTA nomination for Best Animation, the Best Animation award at the Chicago Reel Shorts Film Festival and Best Animated Film at Rome International Film Festival along the way!- No Other Way To Say It Director Tim Mason pulls the curtain back on the glamorous world of advertising in this short comedy about a voiceover actor trying to nail the right tone for a pair of indecisive ad creatives selling a fictitious children’s ice cream brand. Or is it a short tragedy about a pair of ad creatives trying to coax the right tone out of a distracted voiceover actor? Either way, watch as the Hog Butcher team captures the gritty reality of advertising. A can’t miss for anyone thinking about going to portfolio school or applying for a bachelor’s in Radio and Television.
- Shanghai Forever Urbanist and media artist JT Singh has captured the vibrance and massive scale of Shanghai’s skyline, streets, and infrastructure through a series of experimental projects viewed by millions (This is Shanghai, Walk in Shanghai, etc); hence, contributing greatly to the city's growing global status. With this new film, he turns to the Shanghai of its residents, the lives that revolve not around the city’s 4000 skyscrapers, but around the simpler ways of living, the local charm, and the familiar corner. With JT's riveting visual storytelling, viewers experience a series of impressions around historic shikkumen neighbourhoods, which foster a network of real-life experiences, memories, and encounters with locals, which are the tender heart keeping the city alive and charming to live in. Shanghai’s iconic skyline is symbolic of its presence as a premier global city, but below the towers, the intimate, and human story that unfolds is what will always be part of the city’s core DNA.

- AMERICAN REFLEXXX American Reflexxx is a short film documenting a social experiment that took place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Director Alli Coates captured performance artist Signe Pierce as she strutted down a busy oceanside street in stripper garb and a reflective mask. The pair agreed not to communicate until the experiment was completed, but never anticipated the horror that would unfold in under an hour. The result is a heart wrenching technicolor spectacle that raises questions about gender stereotypes, mob mentality, and violence in America.
