Όμως την ώρα της εκκίνησης, το ένα από τα δύο λάστιχα που κρατούσαν την σφεντόνα λύθηκε και η μεταλλική σφαίρα χτύπησε σε μια κολόνα. Όταν η αστυνομία έφτασε στο σημείο, οι δύο έφηβοι είχαν ήδη φύγει. Δεν αναφέρθηκαν τραυματισμοί.
