Russia: TU 22M3 bomber crash on Tuesday, January 22, during his crash landing at an airfield in the Murmansk region. During a crash landing caused by a snowstorm, the bomber on a training flight without ammunition struck hard on the runway and caught fire.
Commenting on the accident, a Russian aviation expert, Vadim Lukachevich, estimated that it had been caused by a vertical gust of wind that would have propelled the aircraft onto the runway while the pilots could not do nothing because of almost zero visibility. According to him, the aircraft would then descend “about 50 meters” in one fell swoop.
