BRAZIL. An 18-year-old girl suffered first and second degree burns after her mobile phone exploded in her trouser pocket while she was visiting a store in the city of Anápolis, Goiás state. The incident happened quickly. The girl felt intense heat and then realized that her phone was on fire.
The explosion of the lithium battery caused injuries to her left hand and forearm, as well as burns to her back and buttocks on the same side of her body. Customers present were shocked and immediately called the fire department. The woman received first aid on the spot and was then taken to the Alfredo Abraão Hospital, where she received professional care. Photos of the phone after the explosion show the device completely burned and partially melted. It was a Motorola Moto E32.
