Finland was founded on 6 December 1917, taking its independence from Russia, and celebrated her 100th anniversary and transition into 2017 with the track “Sandstorm”, the Finnish producer and DJ, Darude, in Helsinki.

Within seconds of the new year, the Darude began playing the first notes of the piece, which has become an Internet meme.
