In 2002, The Finnish inventor Johannes Väänänen, presented his innovative Smartphone to Nokia's executives. It was a mobile phone with many of the features we see today in smartphones, but was unprecedented for its time.
Väänänen was looking for investors for his company (Myorigo) and funding for the mass production of the phone. The device was rejected immediately by Nokia, as by other big companies of the era such as Siemens, Ericsson, Motorola and Samsung. A few years later his company went bankrupt and Apple bought his patents.
