The effect of the deforestation on flooding

A simple experiment demonstrates the relationship between deforestation and floods. Two inclined containers, one with plants and the other only with soil, receive water on their surface. One tube in each tank allows the exit of excess water.

We can quickly see that the container without plants do not keep hardly any water, while water exits are filled with soil. But the second container leaves very little water to pass, while water exiting is light. This shows us that, among other things, plants and trees protect and reduce soil erosion.
