The backdraft is an explosion caused by rapid reintroduction of oxygen to a fire in an enclosed environment, where previously there was a lack of oxygen. For example, breaking a window or opening a door in a closed space with the fire can cause this dangerous phenomenon. The backdrafts a serious threat to firefighters.
