The wreck of the ship Endurance, of the British explorer Ernest Shackleton who sank in 1915 off the coast of Antarctica, found in the Wendell Sea at depth 3.008m. 'We are very excited to have identified and captured images of Endurance', said Mensun Bound, Director of the Exploration Mission organized by the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust. The sinking of the Endurance has become legendary due to the survival conditions of the crew, who camped on the ice for months before finding refuge on Elephant Island, but also the stories of Shackleton's daring journey to seek rescue with a few comrades in South Georgia and return to save his entire crew.
