A female chimpanzee named Mahale gave birth by emergency C-section at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Kansas. Veterinarians along with OB/GYNs decided that C-section would be best after natural labor stopped progressing. The baby was not getting enough oxygen at first, so he was treated at the zoo hospital, but that meant he would be separated from his mother for two days. Cameras caught their emotional reunion.
