On Saturday January 14, 2023 during an environmental demonstration in Lützerath, Germany, the police had to deal with the mud in addition to the protesters. Several of them struggled to move when their feet stuck in the mud. The protesters opposed the expansion of the open-pit mine and the destruction of the village of Lützerath.
