Over time, the Arize River in Southern France created a cave about 450 meters long. The cave is quite wide (about 50 – 60 meters) so that the D119 motorway can be built through it. At the northern exit of the tunnel is the village of Mas d'Azil, who also gave his name to the cave. The cave is particularly known as an archaeological site.
