Hunting green iguanas has become a common practice in some parts of the world, especially in the Caribbean, Central and South America, but also in South Florida, for various reasons. These reasons may include population control, protecting the ecosystem or even using iguanas as food. Green iguanas are native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. However, in some areas, such as Florida or the Caribbean, have become invasive species. Their populations have grown rapidly, creating problems for the local fauna and flora. In many parts of Central America such as Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, iguanas are traditionally hunted for their meat, which is considered a delicacy.
