On November 12, 2024, the Cacahual-El Aburrido mud volcano erupted in the Antioquia region of Colombia, injuring eight people and damaging several houses. The mud volcanoes, unlike traditional volcanoes, they throw mud, gases and liquid sediments instead of magma. This explosion was accompanied by bursts of flammable gases that created explosions and fire, which terrorized the inhabitants of the area. Colombian authorities responded immediately by evacuating the affected areas and providing the injured with the necessary medical care. The country's geological institutes are monitoring the situation and warning of possible further mud volcano activity in the area.
