Los Angeles wildfires, as seen from a plane

Today, January 8, 2025, large-scale wildfires have broken out in the Los Angeles area of the US state of California, spreading rapidly due to strong winds. Authorities have ordered the evacuation of about 30,000 residents, while the flames have already destroyed many buildings, including homes and businesses.

The most affected area is the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, where several famous personalities have their residences. The fire threatens about 13,000 buildings. The situation is complicated by strong winds with gusts of up to 160 km/h, which spread the flames and make it difficult to extinguish.

Firefighters have deployed hundreds of units and equipment, including aircraft, but adverse weather conditions are making their work significantly more difficult. Many schools in the area have remained closed and about 300,000 people are without electricity.

California Governor Gavin Newsom warned that the situation could worsen, and urged residents to follow evacuation orders and be careful. The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.

Current information indicates that firefighters are still not under control and continue to battle the flames to protect the lives and property of the residents of Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.
