On January 24, 2025, A Severe Storm Hit the City of São Paulo, causing widespread flooding. The fire department recorded 219 flood-related calls. The storms caused extensive damage, including flooded streets, the subway, power outages, and public transportation disruptions. In the northern neighborhood of Vila Guilherme, the roof of the Center Norte shopping mall partially collapsed due to the rain, but fortunately no injuries were reported.
