Ever wondered how old warplanes of 1st and 2nd world war could shoot through the propellers, without destroying; To do this they used a Synchronizer, a cog which was on the axis of rotation, and press the trigger only at the time that there was no blade of propeller in front of the gun. This is a nice build on Canada's Aviation Museum, that shows us how this mechanism functioned.
