The Layka is a military dog that was used for the detection of explosives, and served in various missions in Afghanistan. During a mission the Layka received four bullets and seriously injured, but attacked in the shooter and saved the life of Sergeant Julian McDonald and other members of the Group. It took several hours of surgery to save, but the amputation of his right front leg was inevitable. Returning to his home, the McDonald wanted to adopt the dog, thanking this way for saving his life.
