Every year, almost a million people in Europe suffer from cardiac arrest, and only 8% survives. This small percentage, mainly due to the very large response time of medical assistance.
Alec Momont, a student at Delft University of technology in the Netherlands, had the idea to create an 'unmanned ambulance' containing a defibrillator. With a GPS system, the drone is able to reach quickly to the incident, while flying at a speed of 100 km / h, increasing patient survival to 80%. In the near future the drone and other improvements, so it can intervene in choking or breathing problems, stroke or diabetic episodes.
