The US Navy demonstrates a new laser weapon system (LaWS) from the warship USS Ponce in the Persian Gulf. The laser beam is not visible with the naked eye, but is strong enough. In the video we see the lasers to neutralize targets at small craft and destroying an unmanned drone. The system is not very reliable, only 59% of shots achieve the goal, but the main advantage is economic. A shot cost less than one euro compared with several thousand euros for a projectile.
