The Saturday, April 25, 2015, the Everest base camp was hit by a massive avalanche during the earthquake that rocked the Nepal. When they felt the tremors caused by the earthquake, the climbers saw an impressive quantity of snow to come to camp, leaving them very little time to react as shown in this video that caught one of them. On Sunday, the camp was hit again by numerous fatal avalanches. A first assessment reported 18 dead and 60 wounded.
