On Monday, 19 OCTOBER around 9:30 a.m., a rock 2.000 cubic metres was detached from mountain Mel Niva in Valais Switzerland. The rock slipped from an altitude of 1000 meters, digging a trench in the forest and destroying several trees.
One week before this stunning landslide, the geologist Mayoraz Raphael recorded strong vibrations on the mountain, probably due to natural erosion. As a preventive measure, the hamlet Arbey had evacuated, Sunday closed traffic on a nearby road. Fortunately there were no other damage or injuries.
