Meet the Oscars, the first unit organization

Just a few years ago, the very idea of 3D printed organs or bone was something that was limited only in the realm of science fiction. But now experts predict that patients will be able to have access to 3D printed tissue within the next decade, something that causes many debates but also raises many ethical issues. We can only replace the existing tissue, or we can improve ourselves and; If we can create functional bodies, Why don't we create an entirely new life form;

In an effort to make us think about these issues, Dutch director Floris Kaayk recently published his project “The Modular Body”, consisting of 56 clips which show and describe in detail the creation of a bio-printed plasma called Oscar. The project is surrounded by an extreme privacy, as Kaayk wants to believe is real and raises more interest and discussion around the.

The Modular Body is a fairly staggering task, It says the (Luckily fictional) history of the Oscars, a deformed creature who needs daily fresh blood to live, and created in the lab by scientist Cornelis Vlasman who leads a team of Dutch scientists. This video (one of the clips 56), shows a demo of the latest, integrated body in operation.

If your topic intrigued, You can visit the page The Modular Body or the channel on youtube, containing the remaining clips project.
