Thursday January 8, 2015, the Alexis Esneault, a schoolgirl 21 years old, was on the deck of the tourist catamaran “Pura Vida Princess”, for a day trip off the coast of Costa Rica, when the vessel began taking in water after being hit by a large wave about 15 km off the sea.
Equipped with a camera, the young girl recorded the dramatic sinking that claimed the death of three people, a British man 80 years, an American 68 years old and a Canadian 70 years. Nearly an hour after the wreck, a cargo ship rescued the surviving passengers. 106 people rescued, including 10 crew members. In accordance with the principles, the catamaran had enough life jackets and were not overloaded.
