What happens if you throw liquid nitrogen onto your skin;

Grant Thompson makes an experiment, dropping liquid nitrogen onto his face. Although the experiment looks very dangerous, the momentary contact of liquid nitrogen does not cause damage to the skin, and this is due to a phenomenon called the “Leidenfrost Effect”.

The Leidenfrost phenomenon is a natural phenomenon that occurs when a fluid come in contact with a body that is extremely warmer than the boiling point of the liquid. In this case, produced a layer of steam between the liquid nitrogen and the skin, that works like a shield for few seconds.

You may remember the same phenomenon when we had seen in a video from the Mythbusters.
