The crew of the research vessel Nautilus had an unusual encounter with a 'chubby' squid (Rossia pacifica) at a depth of 900 meters off the coast of California. With large protruding eyes, the purple squid seemed to track the remote controlled vehicle remaining property.
The squid Rossia Pacifica, is a kefalopodo belonging to the family of Sepiolidwn and usually reaches a maximum length of 11 cm. This species is mainly found in the Northern Pacific between Japan and California. He spends his day half-buried with tentacles folded underneath the body and remains motionless with eyes open waiting for the prey animals.
